Previous Garden

In this part of the blog I am going to share with you my previous garden.  I have to dig up some photos off a flash drive and upload them to the blog.  It was an interesting way to set up a garden.  Here is a hint....we were on the top floor of an 11 storey building with no top, so when it rained, snowed, wind blew or the sun baked, we got it all!
notice the hose

This is the hodge podge of early balcony gardening.  It is my plan to dig up the old photos and blog about the process of the garden transformation eleven stories up.  We moved everything to one end of the balcony and began the process of protecting the concrete.
Notice the chaise lounge in the pool, there really was water in the pool.  The concrete would get so hot you could not walk on it.  So, I got a kiddie pool.

Beginning the process

The process has begun. See the hose hanging on the wall - I got a diverter and hooked it up in the shower and ran it through the bedroom under the bed and out the window to the balcony.  Lugging water was NOT an option.

Everything all at the opposite end of the work site.

Pre-transformation

Plastic down and pots on top to keep the wind (yes the wind) from blowing it about.

Cutting the rim off the pool, it was surprising how much space the rim took up.

Everything is protected, we tacked the plastic up the wall with silicone to keep the water leakage to a minimum.  You can see the compost bin is nearly full.

Pots all ready for planting.
