Life is funny

Well I got a good old dose of what happens when life goes off the rails yesterday morning.  There is no experience in the world like being awoken at 4 am on a Thursday morn by a withheld number and a male voice on the other end of the phone who identifies himself as a constable with the Haldimand O.P.P. But it still did not sink in, I had been sound asleep.  Then he said my nephews name and I sat bolt upright in bed and began to be more cognisant.  I turned the light on, and said pardon - did you say my nephew?  He asked if I knew where he was?  I said he was at home.  He is not at home I am at his home and he is not here, he has not been seen since 9 am yesterday morning.  That is when life stopped, the breath in my lungs was sucked out of me and everything I knew about my world stopped!  What do you mean he is not home?  It went on from there he started going over what they knew and what they did not.  He knew that Bear did not have his cell phone, he knew that Bear did not have his wallet, he knew that he did not show up for work.  What he did not know was why.  He asked if he was here.  After the call I went downstairs and physically checked the basement to see if Bear had snuck in quietly in the night and was sleeping soundly - but no the basement was not occupied.

I spoke with Sherry and said that if he had not turned up by the end of the day I would come down and be with her so she was not alone.  I assured her that she could call me at work and to not worry about interrupting the day.  I had to get ready for work and begin the process of trying to figure out just what happened to my beloved son like nephew.

I posted on my FB that he was missing and posted pictures, got his plate number from Sherry and posted that, sent an email to friends to let them know and asked them to share it with everyone they knew.  I went off to work and was frantically worried about what the day was going to hold.  Justin stopped by school to give me a hug it was just what I needed - it re-grounded me and allowed me to regain control.  A friend called and gave moral support and that was as much needed as the physical hug I had just received.

A while later close to 11 my cell phone rang and it was Sherry with amazing news!  Bear was home safe and accounted for.  I had coverage and went for a quick walk to the washroom and composed myself and came back to class.

I called as soon as I was home and I was able to chat with Bear for about 40 minutes - he is okay and we will go from there.  I told him again how much I love him and how important he is to so many of us.  We are going to see him Saturday and spend time with him.

Life is full of surprises some great and some not!

Enjoy the day because today is a GREAT day!
