Last March 2012 Saturday

Well after all the unseasonably hot weather we experienced we have been dropped back into the March type weather as opposed to tropical.  My spring flowers are doomed after 3 very heavy frosts including hail, rain, snow, wind and freezing rain along with freezing temperatures.  I am unsure whether they survived the night or will be all droopy and dropped over by the time I get out to peek at them today.

The birds are getting ready to build their nests around our place and the chirping has changed the last several mornings to a different tempo.  We have seen our baby mourning dove from last year bopping about our yard and hanging about with her mate.  Very excited about that!

Today is cold, rainy and overcast, a good day for laundry and shopping with a friend.  Oddly March came in like a Lion and is going out like a grumpy wet one...hmmmm, I wonder if he ate the lamb?

Toodles,

Roller skating, friends and laughter

That is the goal of this evening...roller skating, friends and laughter.  I am hopeful there will be minimum bruising and wipe outs.  I have been asked for at least 5 years now by a young friend who I hold near and dear to me to go roller skating and finally here we are going at last and together.

Many moons ago I skated on a weekly at times daily basis.  We had summer passes and we skated each day all day from 11-4 then back again from 6-11.  It was at Wheel's the local hot spot for skating.  So, now we are returning to our days of glory and going to try a new rink as the old one is no more.  I have often wondered about the Monroe's who owned that place.  I chummed with their daughter Laura many a day.

Well, I have things to do today - two fairy protectors to get finished.  One is glued and is ready for hanging stage and the next needs to be glued and left to cure for 24 hours before I can move forward with it.  I might get some glass placed into my poinsettia mosaic and I think I might get the mold ready for a stepping stone.  I need more molds so that when I mix I can fill several at a time rather than just one.

Old Friends, new memories

Well today we got good news for Mom at the knee doctor - no surgery required!  Then onto  a stop at a very old friends who just happens to be very old - in fact married 64 years yesterday! My gosh where does time go?  Then off for tea with another old friend who is not so old as she is the same age as I.  Caught up, laughed, drank tea and made plans to get back to the rink just like we did when we were younger and hip and all the jazz!  It was a great visit and I look forward to many more to come.

Got back to my mosaic work tonight instead of gluing my arse to the couch.  Hence likely why I am posting at this nutty hour I am energized and feeling great.  April is just around the corner, looking forward to the time of year when the birds really get into the nesting and the garden can begin to take shape for the coming growing season.

I have a dinner with my cousin and my aunt and uncle tomorrow, well nearly today as I glance at the clock.  Wednesday picking up a dear friend from class, having dinner, heading to the rink.  Thursday an executive meeting with my hort society, working a half day Friday and that leads us to the weekend.

Fanshawe Riots and Business Trips

Well we are stateside for some business for my husband and we are watching the violence happening in one of the cities in which we lived years ago unfold on the news cycle in the U.S. of A.  What a shame that a few can have such a negative impact on a city of hundreds of thousands.  Fanshawe and the city of London must now do something about the idiocy that has impregnated the campus at Fanshawe.  They must take ownership of their student body.  They admitted them, they accepted their payments for tuition and it is past time for them to step up and take responsibility for bringing them to London to create havoc.

Tis a sad commentary on the youth of 2012 if this is the example of how they lead their lives.

Onto the business side of things...spending time in Chicago has become on of my fave things to do.  Sightseeing, eating deep dish pizza, the festivities and the architecture are just a few to mention.  The stop at Tiffany's on Michigan Avenue was a highlight even though this trip no trinket, maybe next trip.

I will post a couple pictures today and maybe more later.

It is time to clean up and spruce up our local fairgrounds.  We are having a clean up day on May 5 2012 from 10-2pm.  I will post the flyer once I make some tweaks to it.

Gearing up for Spring

Well the time of the year is upon our local horticultural society to do some planning for community gardens. This year we are attempting to do three.  The one I am involved with is at a local school here in town.  The garden is barren not a garden more a mulch spot with a memory stone and other rocks.  We have developed a three phase plan and today we completed our measurements.  Now we wait for one of our committee members to create a plan for the primary specimens to be planted in phase one.

I am off to another meeting for 7 tonight at the local fair board for our little town fair and our little town big city feel garden show next month.

Chicago

Well it is nearly springtime and we are making our way to the windy city for a business trip and some sightseeing jaunts.  Some of the ideas are Chicago Riverwalk, Oz Park, The Bean and the Adler Planetarium to mention a few.

We went to see the Tundra Swans yesterday after dinner just to see them and listen to their honking. Here is a clip

Busy busy Saturday

Today began bright and clear we headed to the gym for our workouts.  Grabbed some quick breakfast (not the best choice but tasty), home and laundry is on the go, sheets off the bed and the duvet is outside airing, the handmade rug beside my side of the bed is outside airing and might end up in the washer today we will see, going to vacuum the corners of the bedroom today and dust the dressers and maybe take down the drapes and air them - but might wait till the sky is clearer and do that during the week.

That is my plan for the day.  Anything else is a bonus.  Planning a sleepover with a friend and looking forward to having some girl time.  Bear is home safe and sound after a nice visit we all went to see "John Carter' last night - very well done!  Great movie!  Had dinner at Green Tea and brought home the leftovers for lunch today.

Looking forward to getting into my workshop this week and get some of the mosaic completed that I began many moons ago now.  I have two fairy protectors to make this month and it is imperative that I get to those they are gifts.

Enjoy the day,

Friday dear Friday

Well, Friday has arrived and with it the sunshine and the singing of birds.  To date there are 3400 Tundra Swans at the wildlife refuge not too far from our place.  We will go see them today with the sun shining.

Yesterday was a busy day - two medical appointments with similiar outcomes.  Need to figure out the appropriate treatment plan for the first one and the second one requires further study.  The second one has me a tad off kilter as it was not at all what I was expecting to hear.

So, now I have to figure out the best course for my well being and sanity.  Today is about figuring out a little bit of that and then moving forward.

I will do an ear candling later today and that will bring about a sense of peace and balance to an otherwise somewhat unsettled space.  But, in the end it will work out because it is the year for change, balance, renewal and nagas.

Enjoy the day,

Full Moon

Tonight is a full moon and it will be a clear night for viewing.  I just might head to the lake to view it without any light pollution to interfere with the view.  My nephew is here for a visit and it would be great to view it together and see the stars too.  Mars will be just underneath the moon tonight, but not sure if we will be able to see it tonight.

Enjoy the nice warm temperatures we have today in our region.

Sunny Sunday

Well here it is Sunday already and my i-pod is pretty much up and running as it ought and my i-tunes is almost all fixed on my laptop from my pc.  The apple guru has been here and we are about to watch a movie that all in my opinion should see "Philadelphia" on my laptop.  We are installing music from discs and drinking rooibos mango tea.

Saturday Cleaning Saturday

Well home from the north and our final farewells.  Time to begin the embrace of spring.  I did all my floors upstairs today and my line is full of towels and jeans.  The spaghetti sauce is bubbling on the stove top and a friend is en route with vino.  Looking forward to an enjoyable evening of technology and vino.

Enjoy the day,
