The calendar has shifted once again and brought with it the colours of fall and fantastic harvests. The pumpkins are ripening in the yard, the wind has picked up a chilly friend and the sky is clear and bright at night. Along with the changing leaves, harvesting, and preparation for a long winter nap the air is crisp as we change our seasons once again.
Saturday was spent doing preparation for the upcoming camping trip. I made a hearty beef stew with potatoes, zucchini - green and yellow, sweet potatoe, carrots, onion, celery and beef. All local of course and organic. We had shish ka bobs for dinner and pumpkin custard for dessert. We are off for dinner with friends today and along comes the scratch pumpkin pie.
The air is crisp the temperature is 4 and the house is alive with fresh air and a quietness of one awake and one still slumbering. The fish are fed and the laundry is folded. Today brings packing for camping, and organizing to load the car. It might be a good day to fire up the wood stove in the garage whilst I organize camping gear.
Enjoy the day,
Lady of the Oak
