The weather this January has been mild to say the least. Yesterday it was mild, overcast and the snow melted again. This morning it is snowing like rain, it will likely be rain before too much longer as the temperature is hovering about freezing. The roads are slick, folks are driving like fools past the window as I write this entry. The weather this winter has been anything but 'normal'. We had snow very early here and it was my thought then that the winter was going to be very cold and very long having snow in late October. But as I look outside the window I can still see green grass, with its blades coated in fluffy heavy wet snow. The flakes are very large and fluffy.
We have not had much snow this winter, not much at all. Our driveway has only been plowed twice all winter so our snow guy is not making much money this winter. Last winter he was here on a daily basis, he must be feeling the pinch. The ground is frozen but not solid.
A Canadians the weather used to be quite important to us as many of us were farmers who depended on the weather to feed not only ourselves but our country and other countries around the globe. With the changes in farming practises that too has shifted. Now it does not matter quite so much because of the GMO's that are becoming more included in our fields, on our plates and in our food. Enough about that for a bit. I have a post in me about GMO's but not today.
The weather is not frightful, but it is unpredictable.
Enjoy the day,
Lady of the Oak
