Where to begin...glad to be home in more ways than one, not only in our own home but back in our own country. We enjoy travelling but, I like coming home to roost for a bit before heading out again,
Hosta birdbath - still curing. I leave them for weeks to cure before I even touch them. I resist the temptation to turn them over and see what they look like if they turned out ok or did not. Then after a couple of weeks sometimes more, I turn them over and have a look see, then chip off any stray concrete and clean up the edges a bit. It is a dangerous time - as you can lose your edge and create a mess as opposed to a masterpiece.
I could see this flower from my workshop bench whilst doing the chipping of the hosta cast. It inspired me to do this...

Beginning - I traced the flower actual flower onto the medium
The colour process
Flowers are filled not glued, deciding on a background....not loving the green
Found a better background to make the pink flowers pop
I have a LOT of corks and wondered what I could do with them...here are a few of them put to good use.
As well a bunch of river rocks put to good use - heavy and natural.
Second picture frame attempt
I have really been enjoying the mosaics. I find I can lost for hours at a time just cutting glass and fitting the pieces into the spaces. I am playing with colouring the grout and not sure exactly how to get the colour that I would like without spending money on new materials. I have a couple of ideas we will see how they pan out. Trial and error is the way for me to come up with viable solutions.
Went to the beach yesterday and baked! Thank goodness I am a sunscreen nut, we were there for 3 hours and a bit mostly in the water because it was just too hot to sit on the beach and my face was burnt from the sun reflecting off the water. We had rain last night so I was hopeful that might cool things a smidge - no such luck it is like a wet blanket outside. It will take the laundry awhile to dry, but it is going out anyway. If the workshop is not too stuffy I will spend time out there today finishing the pink creation, it just needs some more grout. Today I need to make a lemon loaf for the wake tomorrow for my Great Aunt, and press a shirt for my nephew to wear. Other than that, just going to hang out and relax as Monday is going to be chaotic and a busy travel day.
