How to Identify Caterpillars
The Black Swifttail Caterpillar I was going to put in the house first as he was ready to begin his cocoon stage has disappeared from the area of the dill which he was feasting upon. I had my Mom help me look for me to no avail. He is somewhere nearby, but we could not find him.
I put the 1st instar into the butterfly hatchery house and hope to add more as we go along. I am very disappointed with not finding the one who was ready to cocoon though. Oh well, hope to have lots more soon, there a many more eggs on the dill.
